Fiber optic Media Converter according to the Token Ring LAN IEEE 803.5J standard.

The MICROSENS Token Ring Media Converter enables the conversion of electrical IEEE 803.5J signals to optical signals within a Token Ring.
The use of optical fiber within a Token Ring network permits the extension of the end device connection up to 2 km. converter operates at both 4 and 16 Mbits.

The employment of optical fiber enables the extension of the distances which can be covered by a Token Ring LAN beyond the Twisted Pair limit. The converter can be used to increase the lobe connection distances between terminal devices and access unit ports or alternatively to extend the size of the main ring.

The converter can be used both, single and in pairs, switching automatically to the operating mode.Power is supplied to the converter from an external mains adapter. The input is 5 V DC. The LED display indicates the operating status of the converter and can be used for error diagnostics.
