The Multimode/ Single mode Converter allows the migration in local area networks from Multimode to Single mode fiber.
This is particularly advantageous in the connection of long distance Single mode to standard multimode networks, enabling the use of the existing Single mode telecom networks as an extension of local area networks.

Thanks to the transmission transparency, the converter is applicable for all standard protocols. Depending on the required throughput rate of the network (ISDN, Ethernet, Token Ring, ATM) the converter enables transmission over distances of up to 10 km and beyond.

Special Laser versions are available for long distance applications (40 km).

An economical version of the converter is available with a data rate of 40 Mbps, for application in Ethernet or Token Ring networks. A converter with a data rate of 200 Mbps is designed for high speed networks (e.g. Fast Ethernet, FDDI, or ATM).

An extended version makes possible transfer rates up to 1,25 Gbps (Gigabit Ethernet). MICROSENS offers converters depending on order, with optimized optical services, wavelength and connecting technique.
