The MICROSENS miniature transceiver allows the optical transmission of RS-485 bus signals. The RS-485 interface is the most widely accepted industrial field-bus-system.

In industry problems often arise with electrical cabling as a result of the electromagnetic disturbance created by the machines. Optical fiber offers an alternative media which is completely immune against these disruptive signals.

Whilst the range of common electrical cable is limited to a few hundred meters, declining with increasing data rate, the use of multimode optical fiber enables distances of up to 2 km to be covered.

The transceiver is compatible with the various bus systems e.g. Profibus, lnterbus-s, Bit- bus, etc... Three LEDs indicate the status of the mini transceiver and the activity on the data lines.
