The MICROSENS Ethernet Media Converter allows the direct connection of twisted pair and FO-segments in an Ethernet network, according to the IEEE 802.3 standard, without the need for a repeater. As a result of the repeaterless connection the maximum possible number of repeaters allowed in a network remains unaffected.

The converter is constructed in the form of an insertion card, which can be built into the MICROSENS 19" patch panel, with a central PSU. The unit houses a maximum of up to 12 converters and one PSU.

The insertion card is particularly useful in that it enables the employment of numerous TP-ports on FO and facilitates the extension of twisted-pair segments beyond the 100 m distance limitation.
